WAKE UP IN THE WILDERNESS

LUXURY SELF-CATERED 5-BED HOLIDAY COTTAGE

PANORAMIC VIEWS, CEDAR HOT TUB, 150m PRIVATE CREEKFRONT, JETTY

ONE HOUR FROM LONDON

Introduction

Nagden House is a well-known property in the Faversham area, and brand new to the holiday rental market in 2020. This self-catered creekside retreat is situated in the middle of Graveney marshes in Kent, right on a tidal creek with private jetty, and only an hour away from London by car or train.

It’s the perfect remote getaway for couples or multi-generational family groups, as well as the ideal venue to host a celebration or special occasion. While secluded, it is still within touching distance of Whitstable, Faversham and Canterbury - around 15 mins drive to all three beautiful local towns, as well as 15 mins from the beach.

Nagden House can be enjoyed year round; blazing hot summer days invite dips in the creek, paddling boarding or spot of sailing followed by afternoons of sunbathing, whilst cooler months bring heart-racing windswept dog walks across the marshes to the sea, and storm-watching while soaking in the Canadian cedar-wood hot-tub or hunkered down inside with a book, next to the crackling wood-burning stove.

Inside

Finished to a high standard, with an armoury of mod-cons, and with many different spaces for socialisation or private reflection, there is somewhere for all to relax. Gather together over the large handmade oak dining table and share tales of the day over a family meal, as the light fades through the French doors and across the creek and marshes. Nagden House boasts a large kitchen with range cooker and Le Creuset pans which the chef in your party will adore.

After a long leisurely meal, grown ups adjourn to the comfortable sitting room with its roaring log burner, or repair to the charming reading corner, furnished with board games, puzzles and books. The next door cinema room can also double as a playroom for parties with littler guests, and has a large 70” Smart TV and wide selection of films, as well as access to Netflix, Prime, Apple TV and Disney Plus.

Later in the evening, head upstairs to one of the five elegantly styled King bedrooms, all enjoying stunning creek views. The family bathroom boasts a roll top freestanding bath, while the dual aspect master bedroom is the perfect place to watch the sun disappear over the marshes from the Juliet balcony, usually with a great colourful fanfare.

Outside

The extensive and enclosed gardens of Nagden House are wonderful in every season, but particularly in summer when the orchard really comes into its own, offering up an abundance of cherries, apples, pears, apricots, and damsons. The World War II pillbox, now an exciting kids’ fort, will fire up their imaginations, or if that doesn’t tear them away from their screens long enough, successful crabbing off the jetty at high tide should do it.

But the real star of the show is the al-fresco creekside dining area, brand new for Summer 2020. Relax with a full glass of wine, the only noise the abundant bird life all around. The surrounding marshes are a haven for birds, and the keen-eyed will notice a vast number of species. Nagden House twilight creek-side gatherings are always memorable, having sent sun-kissed little ones off to bed, as the stars start to pinprick the enormous Kent sky overhead, and the Faversham lights twinkle in the far off distance.

Sunsets here are easy to photograph well, making absent friends jealous, even more so if a local seal happens to be passing by…
